What Comes of Me Writing

I've been spending a lot of time writing my novel in the past two days. And I've found that nameberry.com is a great place to go for names of unplanned characters (um, I might just use baby name sites a lot when writing).

While on the site, I got curious as to what my name might mean (I know what you're thinking, 'she doesn't know? How?').  So I typed in 'Katarina' and guess what it came up with! Meaning of Katarina: "pure"

This is too good to be true. I'm pure apparently. Well that is interesting. You know, I really don't feel like I live up to that. It's sort of like saying I'm perfect, but anyhow, there were several other interesting facts about the name on the site.

Apparently Katarina is the Czech variation of Katherine. I didn't know that one. Interesting...

Also, Katarina is a girls name! Why didn't I know this?! Just kidding around.

nameberry.com says that (quote): The Russian version of Katherine is usually Ekaterina, but this form is used throughout Eastern Europe and may be more friendly to the American ear.

So there you go. I have no idea if you knew this or not. But that was just a load of random stuff I found about my name.

What about your name? Do you have any useless information about that?
You can tell I'm writing. All my posts are really random, but don't worry! That just makes it all the more interesting. I wonder what is coming up tomorrow...

  1. It's interesting the things that you learn while you're writing, isn't it? I learn a lot of random facts while researching, which I then pull out at weird times. It makes me very good at trivia quizzes if nothing else. Love the info on your name!

    1. I know! Writing is a great way to ace those quizzes. Nothing like a bit of novel research to give you random info.

    1. That's cool! I never knew that. In all the time I've been looking up meanings for names, I've never looked up Elizabeth for some reason, I wonder why?

  8. I just looked it up, and apparently Ella means "beautiful fairy..." If only I were more graceful, it might fit me (and if I could fly)

    1. Thank you! Well my posts never will be famous, so I might as well put all my hard work into novels because it's oblivious I can't write a sensible post for the life of me.

  10. Valentine's Day is tomorrow. Very depressing... I said to my friends, "I imagine about 90% of the singles population, us ladies, will end up binge watching ice cream on the couch as we cry to the endings of sappy romance movies, crying, 'Ahwah, wah, wah...." 0-o But anyhow I am in love with Name Berry. My name means "the joy of my father".

    xoxo Morning

  12. Your posts are always AWESOME. I love the variety. XD I use nameberry all. the. time. It's my favourite sight because it shows suggestions too and there's so many ways (and cultures) to search for names. ;-) I don't put a lot of weight on name meanings (who but the author ever looks it up?!) but I DO like country origins. My name is Irish! Derived from...*drumroll* KATHERINE MEANING PURE. har, har. We are name twins. ;-)

I know! The suggestions are awesome when you're stuck for a good idea. Meanings aren't so important, unless you're writing a book where they are, but I do find it helps me decide what the character is going to be like.
Hahaha! Twins. I told you we were.

  14. My real name used to be a name for men, and if you google it and go to images, you'll see a bunch of obituaries for old men from the north of country XD It's also Latin for the word 'or'. All very interesting :P
